My husband and I share this Amazon account. My name is Holly, not Gordon. This is important because this review is obviously written from a feminine perspective. I have non-alcoholic liver disease and celiac disease. I always had very thick hair before I got sick. Six months ago my hair started falling out. It would bed just hanging from my fingers in the shower, and I had to clean off the shower drain 3 times during a shower so the tub would drain. Blood test showed I had ZERO vitamin A. I also had severe night blindness. I couldn't see ANYTHING in dim light. I met a woman at the nail salon who had the most beautiful masses of hair. I commented on it and she said that she was taking Purvana. I thought that because of my medical situation, I shouldn't take any OTC medicine, but she went on to say that 2 years previously she had liver disease and pancreas disease. I got my hopes back up and went to the health food store when I left the salon. They were out of Purvana, so I came home checked out the ingredients online. Since it is just vitamins I figured it would be safe for me and went ahead and ordered 2 one month packages. I didn't check for new growth for 6 weeks. At that time I had new growth of about 1 inch long. My hair had stopped falling out about 3 days after I started taking it. I've now been taking it for over 4 months and my new hairs are over 3 inches long and I have no hair falling out. My night vision is amazing! I gave some to a relative, a young woman who has diabetes and thinning hair. She has been taking it for 6 weeks and has lots of thick new growth. I recommended it to another woman who has thinning hair and lichen planus on her scalp. She is 73 years old. After 4 weeks her hairdresser told her that she has new growth. I'm so glad that the health food store was out of it the day I visited. They charge $60.00 for a 90 day supply! This is such a great product that I want to approach everyone I see who has thin hair and recommend it, but I don't. How would you do that and not hurt someone's feelings? Anyone who doesn't eat right or has some sort of food malabsorption should try this! I am a huge fan!

I started taking this product because the growth of my nails and my hair really slowed down once I reached my 40s. I wanted to give them a boost. I started taking this everyday February 2012. My nails started growing again as in the past and they were much stronger than in the past - no peeling or breaking. My hair needed trimmed again at every 6 weeks and is very healthy considering how much I do to it (blow drying, straightening, and coloring). The really big deal (and the reason I'm writing this review) is what it did for my thumbnail that had been smashed in a car door when I was ten years old. This nail fell off, grew back, but was NOT ATTACHED to the nail bed except for about a quarter of an inch near the bottom. This caused constant pain and infection in this nail. I went to three different surgeons/dermatologists and they all thought the best thing was to cut it completely off so it would grow back and re-attach itself to the nail bed. This did not work and the last time, they scrapped my nail bed because there was so much scar tissue. You can't imagine how much this hurt after the 3 shots of novacaine wore off. I got used to living with this over the past 20 years by using peroxide every morning and using an anti-fungal treatment for nails every night before bed. I could not touch raw meat or produce without getting an infection. After taking Purvana for 6 months - I noticed that my nail was re-attaching itself to my nail bed. After one year of Purvana it is all but about an 1/8 of an inch until it is completely re-attached. You have no idea how happy this has made me.

Good product

This is my second purchase of these. My nails grow like crazy now. I haven't noticed much if a difference in hair growth, specifically though. It's been 4 months and I take them about 4 days a week. No breakouts or headaches noted. I usually have both issues when taking msm and/or biotin. I've tried drugstore supplements; This brand was my first non-drugstore purchase. After reading up on different supplements, l chose these over Hairfinity. My main reason for trying these was to increase hair growth. My hair has always been very thick, and that has continued. I will give it 8 more months (a full year) before I decide if I will continue with them for hair growth. **UPDATE*** I switched supplements and took a Vitafusion women's multivitamin gummies for 3 months, Le-Vel for 2 months and then Vitafusion prenatal gummies for 1 month. I recently switched back to Purvana and have been taking it for a month and can tell the difference. My hair and nails are growing faster, my nails are stronger and I have more "natural" energy. I also take other supplements (such as vitamins e and d) but those remained constant even when I switched multivitamins. I like to change it up every 3 months, so I think I am going to rotate between these and the Vitafusion women's multivitamins.
