Not for the long haul
They don't make them like they used to. I think this thermometer was pretty accurate. I base this solely on my body's reaction to the temperature, and not on a side-by-side comparison with another thermometer. My pool only changes temperature within a range of about 13 degrees as I live in an unusually temperate climate. This thing broke though, right in the pool. I had it attached to a floaty thing and it broke under normal circumstances. This was the second one I've had (the first was a gift). The faces come off. The thermometer itself broke, too, and I am still looking for a one inch clear tube on the bottom of my pool. The good news is there is no mercury in this thermometer, if the manufacturer is to be believed. So, accurate, but they break. The price is right but I am hoping an American manufacturer will start creating thermometers that last and are accurate. I know that's probably a vain hope, but a guy can dream, can't he?

Hard to read
This was a replacement one that I had for 8 years - and finally bleached out. This particular one is very hard to read and it doesn't line up right.

temperature is way off
It says the water in my pool is 78 degrees. That is not even possible for where we live. The outside temperature hasn't been over 85 for almost 2 weeks and it has rained and rained. Before my old pool thermometer (and I should have bought the same thing-stupid me) broke, the last few readings were in the low to mid 50's.This is going back. what a waste of time.
