A good review to help you decide. A head-to-head comparison against other products.
This review compares this product against another very commonly seen product here on Amazon - search under DTOM.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00POOTWYWAnd there are two other sellers selling the exact same item (or very similar) to the Explorer brand - you know, copy cats and some copied it and improved it, while others worsened it. But the Explorer is the general "gold standard" as far as this review goes.OK. So, the DTOM brand will cost you about $8 more than the this brand (i.e. Explorer). Is it worth it?In the following ways, yes:* The DTOM has three anti-slip stripes to help it stay under the mattress (or where ever).* The DTOM strips are twice as wide as the Explorer brand.* The DTOM Nylon material is softer than the Explorer brand.* The DTOM brand has one extra loop for a Tac light or one extra Mag. Your choice. But on the other hand, here are reasons why it doesn't feel worth extra $8.* The DTOM does NOT have a loop on the top of the bed slider. This prevents you from able to hang this behind a door (at least 1 fewer way to use this product.* The DTOM's gun loop is NOT adjustable. It is big enough to accommodate all kinds of guns, yes, but it is not adjustable. The explorer brand is adjustable, but, then again, you don't really need to adjust it.In conclusion, is it worth $8?* Yes If you are looking for "better feel" (texture, "hand feel", looks).* but not if this thing is tucked under mattress 99.99% of the time. Who is looking at it?* Yes if your holster slides off easily (some mattress material or one of those slippery mattress encasement protector thing that you put on to prevent bed bugs or moisture... Because the DTOM product has 2x the surface area of anti-slip stripes so may be more helpful.* No, on the other hand, you can tie a rope or a long strip of something to the extra loop-hole the Explore brand gives you and tuck all that under the mattress to increase friction. More friction = less slide. And totally understand that whether a holster slides off is dependent on friction and friction is dependent on surface material, weight of the mattress (6, 8, 10, even 14" foams these days are common), your body weight, and the sheets that you might have (bed protector). But, if you have no issue with this holster sliding off--then you just saved yourself $8.I feel this Explorer brand gets a 5-star in the end. Maybe a 4.5 star. It is a good product for $8 less than DTOM especially look and feel is not a problem for you, but it looks and feel like ... $8 less than the higher level competitor. Especially if you don't have a problem with holster sliding off (so the skinnier anti-slip strips aren't a problem)In the end, if the aforementioned issues aren't issues for you, you can buy two of this holster for about $25-$28 and only one of the DTOM for about $22-$24.Thanks for reading!

Works great for my handgun with tactical light.
I used to keep my firearm under the pillow next to me. Now, I don't have to. My holster holds my Glock 17 with "Nebo ProTec Elite HP190 High-Powered Firearm Light" [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BNROME?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage]. For my setup, I put the holster between my headboard and mattress, towards the middle. This would help make it so that I would have access to my weapon while making it difficult for someone standing next to my bed (King mattress) to get to my weapon. Also, when my bed is made (or at least my pillows are stacked along the headboard), you'd never know that there were a firearm there. After reading reviews, I was afraid that I would need to remove my light in order for the holster to accommodate my firearm. There must have been a design modification, because the holster is adjustable so that I was able to allow for more room towards the bottom to accommodate my light. The piece that folds over your firearm to create the holster velcros to the back, and two more flaps ensure that your setting will not slip. When I first set it up, my Nebo's switch would catch as I drew my weapon from the holster because the switch dropped below the opening on the bottom of the holster. A quick adjustment made it so that this was no longer an issue, and my weapon now sits higher in the holster. Ever where there is a lot of movement on the mattress, my weapon stays in place. Because the holster is adjustable, I am sure that this holster can accommodate many other handgun models/sizes both with and without tactical lights or lasers.I also purchased the "Tac-Mag Gun Magnet with 25 lb Rating" [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LR454YU?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_44 ] at the same time so that I could compare the two. That magnet is super strong, but it does make it harder to draw my weapon quickly. It's almost too strong for my liking. I can see that I would have a quicker draw with this holster than with the magnet. I may still hold onto the magnet so that I can attach it to one of the inner walls of my gun safe to hold my other handgun in order to free up the shelf space that my weapon is currently taking. Still testing that out. With my Glock, I noticed that the plastic coating over the magnet rubbed off on my gun. This ensures that the magnet cover scratches and not your weapon, which is a good thing, but it did scare the crap out of me when I thought it had also scratched my gun.Between the two products, I much prefer the holster and recommend it to anyone looking for a similar product.
