Dr. Martens, Women’s 1B99 14-Eye Lace Up Leather Boot

I really loved these shoes when I bought them in January. However, the seam that attaches the zipper to the shoe is now loose and now I have a hole in one of my shoes. The last pair I had literally lasted me 3 years and stayed in good shape. I've barely had the shoes for 4 months and they are already falling apart.... I'm super disappointed. I spend a lot of money on having good shoes for work so it stinks that I have to find a away to get these shoes repaired.

I usually wear a 7.5 in most shoes and boots, and an 8 in running shoes. I read reviews advising me to go up to the next whole size since I usually wear a half size. HUGE mistake. I received the 8s and they were enormous. I ended up having to return them ($12 shipping!) and ordered the 7s instead.So, this review will be about the 2nd pair - the ones that DO fit.The boots are amazing. The Virginia nappa leather is much softer than the usual black smooth or buttero. They're basically already broken in and LOOK like actual leather, with nice grain and all. The black smooth, though real leather, can often look 'fake'. The side zippers make putting these boots on/taking the off a cinch. I had no problems zipping the boots up, even around my runners' calves. The height of these boots is ideal, even for someone of my small build (5'0"). The top of the boot comes to the widest part of my calf, but still fits comfortably.The fit is snug; I have higher arches and had plenty of support. The boots were just snug enough around the ankles without being tight or restrictive. There was no uncomfortable stiffness in the toe box, which is a common problem with boots - many people say that Dr Martens are some of the hardest shoes to break in! I think this style of leather is what makes the difference.Against common new boot wisdom, I wore these for the very first time on a long (160 mile roundtrip) drive and on numerous shopping errands. I expected my feet to be miserable, but they weren't. No heel rub or blisters! However, the socks may have had a lot to do with that as well - with boots I only wear Dan Post Cowgirl Certified boot socks, which are the best!The only downside? These aren't made in the UK; my pair were made in Vietnam.

I was so excited to get these for Christmas, as I've wanted a pair of Docs since I was a teenager. They arrived in great condition, looked and fit beautifully, were very comfortable, and the leather was soft. Easy to lace as well. However, after less than a month of light wear, the stitching has started to come apart from the left side zipper! They're unwearable in this condition, as there's now a huge gaping hole in the side. This is such a disappointment. It occurred just outside of my return window as well, but Amazon was kind enough to make an exception and process a return/refund for me.Do yourself a favor, invest in a pair of Tims or Harleys instead; they will actually stand the test of time. Docs' quality just isn't what it used to be.

I'm not disappointed at all. I love these boots wholeheartedly But I will admit: they are not EASY. They took more breaking in on the heel than I expected, which hasn't been my usual experience with Docs. They're a smidge bigger than I expected (I ordered my normal size), but the smaller size was a smidge too small. I have pretty wide calves, so even with a zipper, they take a fair amount of lace-adjusting every time I wear them depending on whether I'm tucking in jeans or wearing tights and socks. But I reiterate: I love them. And I wear them a lot...I just wear thick socks. I might even add an insole, even though they're pretty comfy as is.

For someone as picky as me, I can only say that I am in love. These boots are amazing.Leather is soft, but can definitely take a beating.No break in required.Fits my big a** calves, hugs my fragile ass ankles in place. Will last forever. I’ve always had a hard time finding boots that fit, this was a blind purchase with high hopes, so happy took a leap of faith.Go for it, purchase with confidence, you won’t me let down.

I am between a woman's 10 and 11. After reading reviews I went with the 10. Now I'm returning for 11. These boots are beautiful, perfectly crafted and seem really sturdy. There is a seam where the laces start which didn't have a lot of give, so if u have high arches or tall feet and ur in between sizes go with the larger one. The 10s fit lengthwise and the width wasn't bad (my feet are also wide) so they do run a little big but that seem makes me an 11. Just saying. It will be better with some thick socks too. A co worker suggested to get them wet and work them in but since it's a seam and not the leather itself making them pinch I decided to send them back. But seriously awesome boots.Update: boy did these take a little breaking in! Don't be discouraged! Worth the wait! Super comfy after break in. Also bought the boot balm. It helped break them in, and after a couple months of wear and they started getting scuffed, boot balm brought them back to almost new looking. If yr spending 100+ on boots 12$ boot balm is worth it. And I plan to use it on all my leather shoes.The heel support started coming out but I covered it in moleskin and since then have had no problems 😄

The shoes are great. They fit well and are incredibly durable. I would make sure you treat them though. They might wrinkle or crack if you don't. Over all, great boots. (I bought coloured laces, the laces that come with the boot are black)

I ordered these boots because I've always loved Dr. Marten's, but I was concerned that they would be heavy to wear due to the thick sole Docs are known to have. These boots are deceptively lightweight, the leather is smooth and soft, and they still look new despite me wearing them every day. I work on my feet, so shoe support is a priority for me. These boots are a great investment for my feet, and will last a long time. I highly recommend them!

Wanted to get back to wearing Dr Martens, and since taking delivery I've been wearing them non-stop. This was the first time I bought any clothing from Amazon (I couldn't get the style or size from any local stores) and was a little worried because I'm not your average size (I'm very tall with size 8 feet). I didn't need to worry, the boots arrived on time (well packaged) and as soon as I put them on the fit was perfect. The black leather is soft to the touch (boots don't feel heavy on my feet), the inside zip makes it easy to get the boots on/off, no lacing up and 'down' (I have my laces swinging away but I've also tied them around my calf to shorten them). I've worn the boots with both skinny jeans (jeans tucked in) and slim jeans (boots tucked under the jeans) and I see no problem wearing them with a skirt. In fact, since I got them I haven't stopped wearing them, been walking a lot, and aside from a tiny niggle (only once), I've had no blisters. I'm a very happy customer with the product and the seller.

I was so happy and excited when I received my new boots, quality was perfect, and there was no defect or some problem.Came on time and the product was exactly as shown at photo.However as soon as I tried them on, I found out that it was small on the top of the foot, and it was at the part that couldn't be fixed by adjusting the laces. First time I wore them, was painful and after a few hours I was looking forward to come home to take them off.Next time I tried them on, I tried a slightly thicker socks and surprisingly it worked much better.I've wore them so far a few times and whenever I use thin socks, its painful, doesn't seem to get any better but if I try with the cotton athletic ones its better, much better. I really hope that at some point the leather will get the form I need so not to be painful, but they still seem so new (which in an another case that would be fabulous news!)

Received the 1b99 boots the next day from ordering and they're perfect. I'm normally a 7 or 8 depending on the shoes and opted for the 8 just in case. They fit lovely with a little bit of room for thicker socks/movement.The boots are comfy as normally you have to wear Dr Martens in a bit and I love the fact they have laces and a zip :)Overall very pleased with my purchase

These boots are my favourite by far, over the last ten years I’ve been wearing the same type, changing only the colour when I buy new ones. I always get size 7 despite being size 6 so I can fit two pairs of socks in. The leather on these boots is soft from day one, no need to break them, they are comfortable from the moment you put them in, then you don’t want to take them off at the end of the day!

Love these boots. The leather is quite soft. I adjusted the lace ups to make for a comfortable fit when zipped closed. So comfortable. My husband bought them to me for Valentines! Best present ever!!!

I love Dr Martens but have never been able to fit my wide calves into their slip on boots, so I thought I would give lace ups a try - not a chance. I nearly cried :(

The middle piece of leather flips aside every time I wear it. I have to pull it back to the center all the time. Poor quality.
