great for price
I bought this iLive stereo 1. to replace my monster 3 cd duel cassette stereo that took up the whole top of my dresser, 2. because I received an iPod for Christmas and wanted to be able to listen to it on a stereo. I am enjoying this little stereo. It's got pretty good sound for the size. It's fairly easy to set up & use. I plugged in my iPod and had figured out how to surf, play, etc without instructions (and this is my 1st ipod and ipod stereo). The display screen could be better, and the remote buttons aren't very touchy or it has poor remote signal (meaning, sometimes I have to press the buttons more than once before the stereo responds). The CD player works fine too, though I'm not using it as much, but I did pop in a CD to play and check. All in all, for the price, this is a pretty nice little stereo.

Pretty Great
Bought this stereo for my girlfriend (her previous one had broke). Her favorite part was the moving door on the front and the speakers that were not permanently mounted to the unit (you could move them anywhere). Speakers quality is pretty good. She says she can occationally hear a little static in the background of her ipod music but I never noticed it. I'll just break down the Pros and Cons for you.ProsStunning sliding door to access Ipod and Cd player, Speakers are movable up to 8 ft from the unit, pretty loud, Remote can control ipod, audio port in the back if you want to hook up your computer or Mp3 to the speakers.ConsFront door scratches easily, No bass (obviously do to no Sub), Brings out any poor audio quality in songs (i.e. static)I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS IHOME FOR ANYONE. KIDS BEDROOMS TO ADULTS LIVING SPACES.

not what I thougt.
This system has speakers that are not attached. The picture shows a bookbox style setup but in reality the speakers are not attached and you will have to either set them up around the room or directly next to the unit. This is a great concept but not for what I wanted. I was hoping to take it in and out of the house to the backyard but its a paid beacuse you have to carry 3 seperate pieces everytime. The area where the iphone or ipod goes is also a tight fit so becareful. Small kids (under 10) could break it the adapter. The sound quality and the up and down door function are decent but I wish the volume could have been increased. a bit.

Good value for the price
I received this item as a birthday present from my son. It's not the one I wanted but it does everything that I wanted it for. I didn't expect the speakers to be separate, the other one I was looking at was one piece, but it's fine. I checked it out at home, needed some help from my son figuring things out, even after reading the instructions. Took it to work the next day and found out I had to set the preset stations again, it doesn't keep it in memory, but not a big deal. I like having the remote to quickly switch stations when I want, and when I get tired of the radio I can pop in my iTouch or a CD. Sound quality is good and no problems so far. :)

Not a music box
I read many of the reviews for this product before I purchased it, with many of the reviews comparing it favorably to a BOSE system. Those people are crazy. I received this radio very quickly so shipping was not an issue. However, once I started listening to the radio it was immediately apparent that the sound quality was very poor. It was clear enough, but there is absolutely NO base sound produced by this radio at all. It would be fine if all you want to listen to is talk radio, but no use to listen to music at all. I sucked it up and purchased a comparably sized BOSE radio and the sound quality is night and day. The BOSE costs more than twice as much, but is well worth it. Kudos to Amazon for the way they handled helping me return the product, quickly and professionally! Thank you.

not what expexted
The product is great in concept if it woudl work. It does not work with newer ipods but you can attach an auxilary cord and play your ipod from there problem is that won't charge it. I have my docking station at work so when I leave for the night I turn it off naturally. When I come back in in the mornings and turn it on I have to unplug it from the outlet ( doesn't work if you plug it into a surge protector only wall outlets) and plug it back in everyday. The cd player works, the radio works, but the remote is very hard and you have to push on it very hard and have to be right in the direction of the sensor for it to work. For the 50 something $ I paid for it I guess it's to be expected. Will buy a beter quality item next time.

Great small, space-saving stereo for the money
I purchased this to replace a counter-top stereo for my parents. It was easy to mount and install on the wall, saving space on their counter top. I tested all of the unit's components and it works great. Really good sound for a small unit like this, and there is even a bass and equalizer setting (uses generic "rock, jazz, pop, etc" settings) for customizing sound. I've purchased similar types of small, portable stereos with iPod docks, and this one is a good deal for the price. The only thing I wonder about is, over time, how the mechanized door will hold up. I suppose if you leave your iPod in the dock and don't take it out much (or a CD for that matter) it may last. But with daily use, I could see the door mechanism being the first thing to have problems. I guess we'll see - my parents don't own an iPod and I imagine they will use it mostly for the radio and CD components. I also noticed bad reception with AM stations (which my parents like to listen to); FM was fine. There is an antenna wire to which I suppose you could attach a more powerful antenna, if desired. Overall, we were very happy with the purchase!

Product information
The information provided by Amazon & the ilive co did not accurately describe the size & configuration of the product. I am keeping it for a Holiday present otherwise I would return it. From the picture it looks like it is one intregal unit about 12" but in reality the main unit is 12" plus 2 detached speakers. That would have been to know before purchase. My 3rd generation Nano did play fine & I had to turn up the volume & down when I switched to the radio.

Better than expected !
The radio is awesome, great price, great sound, very satisfying. It looks great too, very stylish. The only down side we thought it was going to be thinner based on the pictures, but still very happy with the product.
