We started with you, the parents. You told us what you like and don't like about diapers, and we were inspired to make a better product. We chose Irving Personal Care as our manufacturer because of their diaper-making expertise, and combined their knowledge with your priorities to build a fantastic diaper. We went through joint development efforts, multiple prototypes, lab tests, and even in-home testing by Amazon moms and dads to arrive at a highly absorbent diaper with a soft inner liner that provides gentleness where babies need it most—on their delicate skin. We also made sure each diaper has a cozy, comfortable fit to help protect against leaks. We sent diapers to a group of Amazon Mom customers for their feedback; you can read some of their reactions above. Read More A perfect fit. This species of pine in the southeastern United States is comprised of longer, heavier, and larger-diameter fibers than woods from elsewhere in the U.S., which means it's stronger and wicks fluid faster. It's no surprise that this effective, absorbent material is common in disposable diapers. Grown inCoosa Pines, AL Our Supplier Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers are manufactured by family-owned Canadian company Irving Personal Care, a subsidiary of J.D. Irving Limited. Founded in 1882, the company started out with three mills and has since grown to over 15,000 employees. Irving Personal Care uses the latest in diaper-building technology and sophisticated quality assurance, as well as regular inspections to ensure that each diaper meets rigorous and consistent quality specifications. Located in Moncton,New Brunswick What It's Made Of Our diapers include pine tree pulp and super-absorbent sodium polyacrylate to wick liquids away from delicate skin. These ingredients are common in diapers; each piece of the diaper is engineered to play its part, creating the right balance of absorption, softness, and comfort. Below we've included details on the ingredients and origins of each component, giving you transparency into the products you buy for your family. Contents (in order of prevalence) Sodium Polyacrylate (SAP) Commonly used in disposable diapers, SAP helps keep your baby dry by forming a gel as it absorbs up to 35-45x its own weight, locking moisture away. (Houston, Texas) See all ingredients Pulp Loblolly southern pine tree pulp helps give diapers their absorbency by wicking moisture away from the outer part of the diaper core, as well as providing channels for fluid to flow into and be trapped by SAP. (Coosa Pines, AL) Polypropylene A durable plastic used to create many parts of the diaper. Back Sheet (Mocksville, NC) – The outer cover of the diaper; features an animal design. Top Sheet (Tel-Aviv, Israel) – The super-soft inner lining of the diaper, enriched with aloe and vitamin E; gentle on delicate skin while helping to keep it dry. Cuff (Tel-Aviv, Israel) – The elasticized cuff provides a snug fit to help prevent leaks. Core Wrap (Tel-Aviv, Israel) – Helps hold the absorbent core together. Loop (Fairmont, MN) – The strip on the front of the diaper; fastens to the hooks on stretchy tabs to create a secure fit. Tab (Simpsonville, SC) – Stretchy strips which house the hooks; used to create a snug and secure fit. Front Ear (Tel-Aviv, Israel) – Wings on the front of the diaper; provide an easy grip during fastening for a more customized fit. Hook (Menomonie, WI) – Fastenings on the stretchy tabs that work with the loop to create a secure fit. Polyethylene Film A thin film between the inner core and outer layer of the diaper; serves as a barrier to prevent moisture from seeping through. (McAlester, OK) Styrenic Block Copolymer Adhesives used with resin and wax or oil to construct the diaper. (Greenville, SC & Paducah, KY) Polyolefin Another durable plastic used to create: Back Ear (Lake Zurich, IL) – Wings on the back of the diaper with elastic layers for a more customized fit. Waistband (Lake Zurich, IL) – The stretchy elastic waistband helps with comfort and leak prevention. Polyester Moves moisture into the diaper core, away from your baby's skin. Used to create a woodland animal design on the outside of the diaper. (Dallas, TX) Vitamin E Infused into the top sheet to soothe delicate skin. In general, you should use your baby's weight as a starting point, but pay close attention to the fit of the diaper once it's fastened. Be sure to choose a size that doesn't sag or gap as your baby moves around; ill-fitting diapers are a common cause of diaper leaks. If you notice red marks on your baby's skin, or an increase in leaks, it may be time to try the next size up. Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers have extra elastics for a snug fit—an important part of leak protection—so if your child is between sizes you should try the next size up.Sizes by Weight: Newborn: Up to 10 LB Size 1: Up to 14 LB Size 2: 12 - 18 LB Size 3: 16 - 28 LB Size 4: 22 - 37 LB Size 5: Over 27 LB Size 6: Over 37 LB Why do the number of diapers in a pack decrease the larger the size? As babies grow older they generally wet less often but in heavier amounts, resulting in fewer diaper changes per day. That means fewer diapers are in the package as you move up to a larger size—the larger the diaper, the more liquid it absorbs. Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diaper boxes have been specially designed so that each size contains enough diapers for one month. How fast will I go through diapers? Usage will vary based on your child's age and your average number of diapers changed per day; our Subscribe & Save diaper packs have been specially designed to last one month, so each box contains the right amount as your child grows. Are your diapers latex-free? Yes, Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers are free of latex. Latex is sometimes used in diaper elastics, but Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers don't include latex because of its potential to cause contact allergies. Do you use perfumes in your diapers? Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers are perfume-free; we chose not to include perfume because we didn't want to include unnecessary additives. Some diaper brands include a baby powder-like smell; if you've used similar brands in the past you may notice we didn't use perfume in Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers. Are these diapers elemental chlorine free? Yes, Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers are free of elemental chlorine. Diapers are stuffed with pine tree pulp—a fluffy, paper-like material in the diaper core which helps absorb liquid quickly. This pulp is naturally brown, so some processing is necessary to bring it to the bright white color usually seen in disposable diapers. Like most disposable diapers, Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers are whitened using chlorine dioxide, which, unlike elemental chlorine, produces diapers in a way that is essentially dioxin-free—studies have found dioxins are produced at trace to non-existent levels. Do these diapers use ink? Yes, our diapers use ink to create the woodland animal print design, as well as the wetness indicator on the outside of the diaper. Are these diapers hypoallergenic? Yes. Hypoallergenic simply means that the diaper isn't likely to cause an allergic reaction. What is Sodium Polyacrylate? Sodium Polyacrylate is a super absorbent polymer, or SAP; an ingredient that can absorb and retain large amounts of liquid compared to its own mass—35-45x more. It traps moisture by expanding into a gel, which locks wetness in and away from delicate skin. We selected a highly-absorbent SAP for our diapers so that they can be thin while still retaining large volumes of moisture. What causes diapers to leak? Diaper leaks are often caused by incorrect fit or size of the diaper, and usually indicate your child needs to move on to the next size. For leaks at night, try the next size up. What causes diaper rash? Diaper rash has a number of possible causes, including prolonged exposure to a wet or dirty diaper, rubbing and chafing caused by poor diaper fit, and even infections or allergic reactions. If you have any questions or concerns about diaper rash, please consult your pediatrician. How can I get samples of this product to try before I buy?
