desertcart.com: Psych 101 for Attorneys: A Manual for Litigating Psychiatric Injury Claims eBook : D'Anton, Michael: Kindle Store Review: Very helpful - I am a mental health counselor and I think this book is helpful for all professionals! Review: Excellent! Meticulous Analysis - This book is a meticulous analysis of psychiatric injuries, and the consequences of the failure to obtain an accurate diagnosis, particularly when litigating such injuries. This book is written for those attorneys seeking to maximize the effect of their expert. The author provides a step-by-step guide on properly vetting potential candidates, appropriately obtaining and analyzing medical records, and finally, strategies to achieve the best results at depositions and trial. It is particularly astounding to learn of the wide range of licensures of the professionals in this field, and sometimes, how unscrupulous professionals treat individuals far outside the range of their educational parameters with devastating results. The author describes how mental and personality disorders are often misdiagnosed, and how “normal life experiences” are being classified as something far more pathological without medical or legal support. It describes how traumatic brain injuries and PTSD are often conflated. While seemingly similar to an untrained professional, treatments for each condition are vastly different. These are all facts for a successful litigator to have in their armory while preparing for trial to fully understand the scope and breath of these injuries. This book provides attorneys unfamiliar with litigating psychiatric injuries with the framework to be successful at such an endeavor; but more critically, contains tactics that even seasoned litigators will find extremely beneficial.
