Excellent quality substrate mix. The price is also more than reasonable. I was able to make out 2 monotubs and 6 shoe boxes with what I got from this kit and still have a least a quart left over. Heat or pressure sterilization before you use this substrate or any online bought substrate is critical. This simply mean you have to mix the substrate mixture with boiling water or pressure cook it. Also it can't be just kind of hot or luke-warm. The water has to be at a rolling boil when you pick it up to dump it in. I have used two methods the first is the easiest: I put my substrate mix in a generic hardware store bucket (make sure when you get one you include a sealing lid preferably with a rubber gasket! Hit it with iso when you get it home for good measure!) from there you put whatever ammount of boiling water; you have decided to use I honestly kind of wing it every time. I just make sure that the ammout of water I add is sufficient to cover the mix. Then once boiled-water is poured in put the lid on the bucket (yes the plastic will be hot and the lid will swell) the heat that is trapped in the bucket with the substrate will kill off all the microbes, bacteria, mold, mildew, etc. you have to let it sit for at least 8 hours in my experience if you try mixing your grainspawn with this super heated substrate the small ammount of still escaping steam will cook your mycelium alive like an omlet so don't rush it (it's also really easy to misjudge how hot the substrate is then burning your hand when reaching in to grab some, so be careful!) The second method just replaces the bucket with a large gasketed cooler with toggle locks. I just figured out that I can microwave the substrate to purify it as well so I got a large cheapo microwave off FB market and I use it only for sterilizing substrate and genetics saving equipment like glass petri dishes. It should be well thought out that this isnt a one time sanitize all thing - you can develop a contaminated substrate in your bucket while waiting to use it for another tub weeks later. That's where the microwave came in for me now I can dole out as much as I want and steam it clean in the microwave. So far I havent had any contams. I have how ever had some serious success! Always good quality grow materials from Boomer. I have tried every brand on Amazon, and I continue to come back to Boomer. There is only one other brand I use that is equal in quality. You will have success if you take the right precautions and use everything as its intended. I’ve had great results.

Instead of using a bucket I used a large pot with a lid and it worked for those who don’t have a bucket on hand. Easy to prepare. Zero contamination. Consider using a very clean (bleached maybe) pillowcase to prepare the mix in for an easy way to squeeze excess moisture out, planning to try that next.

Another great Boomer Shroomer product. Very easy to prepare with provided instructions. Mix in a 5gal bucket with hot water, let sit overnight. Enough substraight for 2 monotubs, actually I always have some leftover. I could buy the ingredients individually, which might be cheaper, but this is just easy.

This is the second time I’ve purchased soil from this company. The first time I used it, I tried growing Lions Mane but it didn’t produce any mycelium, no growth at all, so I gave it one more try and I’m glad I did.
